***** SPOILERS AHEAD *****
Keeping with my post on Asylum of the Daleks I am only going to review the episode, which is mostly me just talking about the points that struck me in some way.
The overall tone was a bit more lighthearted in this episode, not that there weren’t serious themes ( the population of a whole ship was airlocked out into space), but as the title suggests, there were dinosaurs on a spaceship, and Rory’s father got to play a quick game of fetch with one. The Doctor, Rory & Rory’s dad, also got to ride one to escape Soloman’s robots.
In Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, there were two main things that struck me – one good, one bad; Rory’s dad & the Doctor’s actions at the end of the episode.
Introducing Rory’s dad was fun & let us get to know Rory a little bit better. The actor’s had a nice rapport, and added some great moments to the episode.
On the other hand, the Doctor’s actions at the end of the episode where he saves the day, but let’s the villain of the episode, Solomon, not only die, but relish in it, was an off note for our Doctor. Sure he has let others die before, but in this case it didn’t really seem necessary. He could have taken Solomon & had him imprisoned somewhere. Does this signify a growing darkness for this doctor?
Ok, this was short & sweet, but now that I’m caught up, I promise to be more thorough & timely.

You know, after the pretty awesome season premiere of “Asylum of the Daleks”, I found this second episode to be somewhat underwhelming. So much so that, in the 3-4 attempts at watching it (thank goodness for DVRs), I fell asleep during all of them.
That said, I agree with you that introducing Brian was a nice touch, and I’ve grown to really like him, especially after episode 4 (“power of 3″), and the Doctor’s actions seem to signify a turn for the darker, likely as a result of spending more and more time alone…
it was definitely a lighter tone, but Doctor Who is like Buffy for me, even the less stellar episodes are better than most other shows!
Brian quickly became a fav of mine, and yes, it was totally ‘The Power of Three’ that sealed it for me.
When David Tennant’s Doctor turned darker, it signaled the end of his time on the show, but we know Matt Smith is sticking around for a while longer, so somebody will have to pull him back. His new companion? River?
Brian?
Maybe, he does have the wide-eyed enthusiasm that lightens the Doctor!
My feelings exactly!
